Rivendell in New York by Jackal7x Rivendell in New York by Jackal7x
Watkins Glen, New York is a narrow gorge in which a river has been making deeper and deeper since the last ice age ended about 12,000 years ago. In the 1930's a public works project built stone steps and stone bridges providing the opportunity for a scenic hike in this serene, unique and vaguely Tolkeinish setting. I named this photograph after Rivendell, the home of the elves in the Lord of the Rings books and movies which this area reminded me of as I walked through this fantasy-like setting.
